16、n for human survival and development.In the face of the global challenge of biodiversity loss,strengthening its conser-vation has become the consensus of the international community.On May 22nd,1992,the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee initiated by UNEP adopted the Convention on Biological Di

17、versity(CBD).On De-cember 29th,1993,the CBD officially came into effect,unveiling a new era of global biodiversity conserva-tion.For the first time,the international community reached in consensus,i.e.biodiversity conservation is an indispensable step towards common interests and human development.I

18、t established the 3 major objec-tives:The conservation of biodiversity,the sustainable use of its components,and the fair and equitable shar-ing of benefits arising from their utilization,marking a significant milestone of international environmental legislation.The CBD,as an international conventio

19、n,acknowledged the common difficulties faced by all the signatories,established the comprehensive objec-tives,policies and obligations,and started the relevant technical and financial cooperation.As one of the earliest signatories,Chinese Government included the bio-diversity conservation into its n

20、ational strategy.By actively implementing the CBD and its relevant proto-cols,China undertakes the responsibilities assumed to a big country,and played a pivotal role in the global biodiversity conservation and governance.On September 30th,2020,President XI Jinping said on the UN Biodiversity Summit

21、,“China actively carried out global environmental governance.By fulfilling the obligations specified in the conventions on climate change and biological diversity,China has realized the 2020 targets for climate change and natural reserve construction.China will,in the spirit of building a com-munity

22、 with shared future for mankind,make contin-uous and painstaking efforts to increase its nationally independent contributions,adopt more effective policies and efforts to peak the CO2 emission by 2030 and realize carbon neutrality by 2060,and contribute more to realize the climate change targets set

23、 in the Paris Agreement.On October 12th,2021,President XI Jinping advocated in his keynote speech on the CBD COP 15 Leaders Summit,“Let us join hands to uphold the concept of ecological civilization,be responsible for the future generations,build a community with the shared future for mankind,and cr

24、eate a clean and beautiful world!”Guided by President XIs idea of ecological civilization,China prioritizes ecological con-servation,green development and innovative practice,fostered a new landscape of biodiversity governance,and carved a new conservation path with Chinese characteristics.China has

25、 a vast territory,where the complex and diverse landform and climates gave birth to the rich and unique ecosystems,species and genetic diver-sity,making it one of the countries with the richest biodiversity in the world.In recent years,Chinese Gov-ernment dedicates to establishing the“1+N”policy sys

26、tem for carbon peaking and neutrality,published a series of laws,regulations and policies to accelerate the formation of a natural reserve system with nation-al parks as the main body,boosted the industrial and energy restructuring,and made outstanding achieve-ments in biodiversity conservation.Stim

27、ulated by the cooperative programs by international organizations,especially by MEE and international organizations like WWF,the MNCs,SOEs,hi-tech companies,financial in-stitutions,new media and platforms paid increasingly more attentions to nature-based solutions,actively explored new mechanisms an

28、d models for biodiver-sity conservation,developed new technologies and operation models to demonstrate ecological and environmental protection,advanced the construction of green industrial chain and supply chain,produced duplicable experiences and practices with Chinese characteristics,and fostered

29、a new prospect for biodi-versity conservation.For the CBD COP 15.2,WWF Beijing Office and FECO are soliciting the typical cases with positive impacts and significant contributions to biodiversity conserva-tion,sustainable use,and fair and equitable sharing of benefits,in order to empower the biodive

30、rsity actors,demonstrate Chinas achievements in eco-civilization,and promote the communication and cooperation among domestic enterprises.Through soliciting and collecting the typical cases,we can explore the suc-cessful business models and practical strategies,fully showcase the leading companies r

32、elopment.The case collection consists of 8 chapters.Chapter I is an overview,which quantitatively introduces the highlights in the enterprises cases corresponding to the 21 action targets in the Post-2020 Global Biodiver-sity Framework.Chapter II to VII include 28 cases with significant demonstrativ

33、e value and benefits to differ-ent industries,and introduce the enterprisesdirect or indirect contributions to biodiversity and habitat pro-tection,sustainable use,genetic resources,traditional knowledge and benefit sharing.In edition,we catego-rized the cases by field,and finalized them in 6 fields

34、,namely green development,green supply chain,sus-tainable use and management of natural resources,nature-based solution,new technologies for ecolog-ical conservation,etc.Chapter VIII incorporates over 100 cases of more than 30 countries implementation of“nature-positive”economic approaches in differ

35、ent sectors,and also provides analyses and suggestions on management policies.However,the selected cases usually do not involve in a single field.On the contrary,most of the cases are based on comprehensive im-plementation strategies covering multiple fields.The categorization is to highlight their

40、iodiversity Framework,to guide the global actions for the conservation and protection of nature and its fundamental services,by 2030.The framework builds on the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and sets out an ambitious plan to galvanize urgent and transformative action by governments and a

41、ll of society,including indigenous peoples and local communities,civil society,and businesses,to imple-ment broad-based action to bring about a transformation in societys relationship with biodiversity,and to ensure that,by 2050,the shared vision of living in harmony with nature is fulfilled.The fra

42、mework serves as the latest programmatic document to guide the post-2020 global biodiversity conservation,and the platform mechanism to coordinate the consistent actions by all countries.It will provide the uniform methodologies,timelines and roadmaps,indicator tools,monitoring assessments and repor

43、t review processes,and guide the global biodiversity actions in the future 10 years.“The Framework(Draft)”provides an outcome-oriented framework1 for the development of national,and as appropriate,regional,goals and targets and,as necessary,the updating of national biodiversity strategies and action

44、 plans to achieve these,and to facilitate regular monitoring and review of progress at the global level.It also aims to promote synergies and coordination between the CBD and its pro-tocols,and other relevant processes.The framework is complementary to and supportive of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainab

45、le Development.It also takes into account the long-term strategies and targets of multi-lateral environment agreements,including biodiversity-related and Rio conventions,to ensure synergistic delivery of benefits from all the agreements for the planet and people.The vision of the framework is a worl

46、d of living in harmony with nature where“by 2050,biodiversity is valued,conserved,restored and wisely used,maintaining ecosystem services,sustaining a healthy planet and delivering benefits essential for all people.”The mission of the framework for the period up to 2030,towards the 2050 vision is“to

47、 take urgent action across society to conserve and sustainably use biodiversity and en-sure the fair and equitable sharing of benefits from the use of genetics resources,to put biodiversity on a path to recovery by 2030 for the benefit of planet and people.”The framework has 4 long-term goals for 20

48、50 related to the 2050 Vision for Biodiversity.Each 2050 goal has a number of corresponding milestones to assess,in 2030,progress towards the 2050 goals.It also has 21 action-oriented targets for urgent action over the decade to 2030.The actions set out in each tar-get need to be initiated immediate

49、ly and completed by 2030.Together,the results will enable achieve-ment of the 2030 milestones and of the outcome-oriented goals for 2050.Actions to reach these targets should be implemented consistently and in harmony with the CBD and its protocols and other relevant international obligations,taking

54、one remotely monitored and acquired the biodiversity data,and supported the comprehensive spatial planning,including biodi-versity.ELION fought against desertification in Kubuqi Desert for 33 years,widely applied the local plant resources with potentials in indus-trialized development and ecological

55、 restoration to desertification control.While effectively restoring the holistic ecology,ELION devel-oped the ecological industries,including crop and animal farming as well as tourism,to alleviate poverty and benefit local people.HSBC actively supported the implementation of global ecological progr

58、on,ensuring connectivity among them and focusing on priority ecosystems.In 2007,Shenzhen Municipal Government authorized OCT Group to manage the nearly 70 hectares of degraded coastal wetland in Shen-zhen Bay,creating the first application of land trust model in the Chinese environmental public-welf

59、are field.Yili used planted grassland to control sandstorm,which complete-ly improved the soil,vegetation and ecological environment,and advanced the ecological restoration of natural grassland in the pro-gram area.Modern Sky and Incom Recycle worked together to produce recy-cled products,and donate

60、d the revenues from the recycled prod-ucts to One Planet Foundation to restore the tropical rainforest hab-itat in Xishuangbanna National Natural Reserve.HSBC supported the sustainable production and restoration pro-gram in the palm oil origin.In the 6 rainforest regions in Indonesia and Malaysia,5

61、of them realized reduction in deforested areas,mit-igation of deforestation in the origin,and comprehensive forestland management in the first year of program.Ensure that at least 30%globally of land areas and of sea areas,especially areas of particular importance for biodiversity and its contribu-t

62、ions to people,are conserved through effec-tively and equitably managed,ecologically representative and well-connected systems of protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures,and integrated into the wider landscapes and seascapes.The Water Fund Trust addresses the issues of w

63、ater source conser-vation,rural drinking water safety and farmers livelihood through the“beneficiary pays financial mechanism.Yili took the measures of“diverting water to restore wetland,and keeping engineering construction away from birds habitat and mi-grating season”to promote the conservation of

64、 wetland bird spe-cies diversity.Yili conducted researches in restoration of degraded grassland and sustainable management method,increased vegetation and bio-mass of plots,and significantly restored the vegetation on the man-ually-sowed pilot site.Kering Group,together with the CEOs of global leadi

65、ng fashion and textile enterprises,(accounting for 35%of the size of the whole in-dustry),signed the Environmental Protection Agreement for the Fashion Industry.All the signatories developed relevant strategies to measure the industrys impacts on key species and ecosystem,to ensure the industrys con

66、tribution to mitigation of biodiversity loss.Hikvision established the cowfishs living habit patrol system,aquat-ic ecological environment patrol system and UAV intelligent patrol system in the Tianezhou Baiji National Natural Reserve of Yangtze River.With the sensing devices collecting the data of

67、cowfishs living habit as well as the aquatic and terrestrial environment in its habi-tat,the systems provide useful image data for the cowfish reserve.The Hikvision AR Hawk Eye camera shows the panoramic view of 5-10 km2 river area on the real-time basis,covering basically the core oxbow area.The 18

70、ciple of“living in harmony with birds”,and aims to create an“island for ecological education.”Since 2016,Yili and WWF jointly launched the wetland birds resourc-es monitoring program,under which total 16,526 birds were record-ed,including the Level I and II national key protected species,the near-th

71、reatened species and the critically-endangered species in IUCN Red List.DJI UAVs are used to monitor the biodiversity on land,avoiding the interference to terrestrial wildlife.DJI improved the monitoring efficiency for the Asian Elephants mi-gration northward,and realized the precise classification

72、and appli-cation for mangrove.Modern Sky built a“Strawberry Forest”in Xiaotianba Village.In Phase I,100 mu forestland was cultivated to grow the 3,300 plants favored by Asian Elephants and other wildlife;And in Phase II,150 mu habitat forestland for Asian Elephant was improved.Meanwhile,it provides

73、skill training for villagers to improve their income,and to reduce the human-elephant conflict to some extent.Haopy Pharmaceutical Group protected the special wild plant in Yunnan Province“Aconitum georgei Comber.”HSBC supported the local ecological conservation programs in Sa-bah,Malaysia,to help l

74、ocal smallholders produce palm oil sustain-ably.Also it supported the building of a local ecological corridor,joining the 2 segmented forest habitats up,and effectively reducing the conflicts between plantations and protected wildlife,including elephant.Ensure active management actions to enable the

75、 recovery and conservation of species and the genetic diversity of wild and domesticated species,including through ex situ conservation,and effectively manage human-wildlife interac-tions to avoid or reduce human-wildlife conflict.Hikvision applied smart IoT to wildlife protection and ecological con

76、servation,especially wildlife protection.Since 2015,Hikvision participated in programs concerning aquatic life,bird,reduction of human-animal conflict and wildlife protection in the Covid-19 period,by which it realized the close loop of“animal monitoring,image management,intelligent identification,s

77、tatistical analysis and visualized demonstration,”to reduce the cost and improve the efficiency of wildlife protection,and provide useful scientific basis for biological research.It reinforced the protection of Anser indicus,Neophocaena asiaeorientalis,Ailuropoda melanoleuca,Panthera tigris ssp.Alta

78、ica as well as African penguin and rhino with science and technology,and supported the research in reduction of hu-man-bear conflict in Sanjiangyuan region with video technology.Target4Ensure that the harvesting,trade and use of wild species is sustainable,legal and safe for human health.Kinbear dev

79、eloped the man-made bear gal powder with the chicken gall as the transformation base.Dr.Plant selectively bred 40 alpine flowers,by which it realized 1 na-tional-level scientific research result,and developed 2 key biological technologies for selective breeding and propagation.It applied the researc

80、h results to vegetable skin care products,and committed to contributing part of profits to biodiversity conservation.ByteDance joined the Coalition to End Wildlife Trafficking Online.It explored the use of image recognition technology in identifying the wildlife and their products in video clips.Thr

81、ough the measures of adding warns,cutting off the dissemination of illegal contents,setting up reporting mechanism as well as cooperating with the law enforcement authorities in tracking and combating illegal trade,it dedicates to fighting against online wildlife poaching,illegal trans-portation and

84、l fertilizers and arti-ficial irrigation.Haopy Pharmaceutical Group planted medicinal materials without any use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides in the origin of genetic resources.The aboveground parts of the medicinal materials were crushed and returned to the soil after harvesting,and only a

85、small quantity of seeds were sowed on the mountains where the wild Aco-nitun georgei Comber grows,to prevent the wild resources from ex-tinction,and secure the biodiversity in the origin of genetic resourc-es.Reduce pollution from all sources to levels that are not harmful to biodiversity and ecosys

86、tem functions and human health,including by re-ducing nutrients lost to the environment by at least half,and pesticides by at least 2/3 and eliminating the discharge of plastic waste.CHN Energy Huanghua Habour,on the basis of the idea of sponge city,adopted a smart water use for dust suppression sys

87、tem to real-ize the effective control and zero discharge of coal sewage.Wanxiang Trust designed 2 Chinese water fund trusts on the basis of their international experiences,namely Longwu Reservoir Water Fund Trust and Qiandao Lake Basin Water Fund Trust,representing the first trial to address the non

88、-point source pollution arisen from scattered agriculture.Dr.Plant paid for the recycled bottles at its outlets nationwide.By providing a discount of RMB 10 yuan per empty bottle,it has recy-cled 16.5 million up to now,and paid around 165 million yuan.The recycled empty bottles will be transported t

89、o the environmental protection authorities for centralized disposal.Snow Valley Agriculture developed the intelligent dripping irrigation to reduce the wastes of water and fertilizer as well as the use of pes-ticide.Snow Valley Agriculture mixed the cow dung from the medium-and large-scale cow farms

90、 in the industrial park and potato peels up for fermentation.In this way,it realized the complete recycling and use as well as the“zero”emission of pollutants.Yili incorporated the environmental protection concept into produc-tion,manufacturing and logistics to minimize pollution.Budweiser APAC,in c

91、ooperation with ErthosTM,a start-up company,developed an environment-friendly resin.The 100%compostable agricultural byproducts are used to replace polystyrene and poly-propylene used for plastic bottle cap production,transform them into sustainable and environment-friendly packaging,and reduce the

92、use of raw plastic in value chain.Manage pathways for the introduction of inva-sive alien species,preventing or reducing their rate of introduction and establishment by at least 50%,and control or eradicate invasive alien species to eliminate or reduce their im-pacts,focusing on priority species and
