3、RP ALL RIGHTS RESERVEDAARP RESEARCH4Executive Summary-TravelersDespite high costs and air travel challenges,2024 travel among people 50-plus mirrors 2023 in many ways,though travel plans are now more often coming to reality.Roughly two-thirds(65%)of people 50-plus plan to travel in 2024,at parity wi

4、th 62%in 2023.The average number of trips anticipated is the same year-over-year(3.6 vs.3.7 in 2023).Travelers plans are now more often coming to fruition for the first time since the pandemic,with last years number of intended trips matching the actual number taken for the first time since COVID.An

5、ticipated travel spend is consistent at$6,659(vs.$6,688 last year).Domestic road trips continue to be a focus.63%of 50-plus travelers are planning to travel only domestically(61%in 2023).Last years rise in road tripping domestically is maintained in 2024(49%of domestic trips)as is the decline in dom

6、estic air travel(38%).Last years decline in international travel intentions holds constant(37%plan to take at least one international trip)and is still below prepandemic levels.International travelers are farther into their planning compared to recent years and their trip focus has shifted.Fewer are

7、 in the initial idea phase than last year(28%vs.34%in 2023),a steadily declining portion since 2021.More are planning international bucket list(24%of international trips)and family trips(13%)in 2024 than in 2023 and fewer international solo trips(7%),suggesting increased desires for adventure and co

9、ns for a disability(themselves or their travel companion),primarily for issues with mobility(78%).These travelers expect to travel as many times in 2024 as their counterparts(3.5 vs.3.6 trips)and to the same destinations(66%domestic only,29%for both international and domestic,5%international only).T

10、hese figures align with Miles Partnerships 2023“Travelers with Disabilities”report showing 16%of travelers 18-plus indicating need for accommodations for disabilities and an average of 3.3 trips anticipated in the next 12 months.According to Miles Partnership,disabled travelers may show higher desir

11、e to travel than their counterparts given their higher proclivity for travel daydreaming(59%vs.46%).Though they are traveling at the same rates,their anticipated spend is well below their counterparts for 2024($5,170 vs.$6,909).Travelers ages 50 to 59 are looking for adventure both near and far.Trav
