FTTR system is a fiber-to-the-home system, which is an effective way to achieve high-speed broadband and networking. As the infrastructure of FTTR system utilizes the fiber optic, the requirement of the devices and components is rather strict. This paper will analyze the requirement of the devices and components from the aspects of fiber optic line, fiber-optic network access devices, optical cat and inner connection system, etc.
To begin with, FTTR's fiber optic line must be in conformity with the telecom regulation, and using evacuated and repackaged system fibers whose smallest transverse sections are 9/125 μm. In addition, it must have the capability of good tractive strength and bending characteristics to ensure the benefits from the FTTR system. Secondly, the fiber-optic network access devices of FTTR firstly must be correctly allocated with TU's Id Light, which connect the fiber to the up/down OLT, as well as connecting the fiber to the FTTR provincial network and clients. Besides the above-mentioned TU, it also must be equipped with enough compact modules, among which the SFP modules must be in accordance with the industry standard to meet the telecom regulations.
In addition, the FTTR also requires the presence of an optical transceiver, with the availability of many interface selections, among which the high-end modules can offer higher speeds, the newest technology for which is Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T, supporting ultra-high speeds up to 2.5Gbps and higher, as well as being easy for end-to-end gigabit networking. Furthermore, theFTTR is required to use the international ISO brand optical cat, supporting the port of the telecom cards such as RJ45, and requiring the services of DNS/DHCP and EDID, while being able to support 802.11n wireless standard to meet clients’ demand of connecting to wireless networks. Lastly, the inner connection system of FTTR requires the application of industry standard, starting with requiring L2/L3 switches; foblowingly there must be electronic wires such as UTP network cable and optic network cable. Besides, there must be corresponding rackets and adapters for connecting the electronic wires in a secure and stable way to the switches or the interfaces of the fiber-optic network.
