3、ue chain is in a transitional phase that is bound to result in more robust connectivity and sensorization.The transition to renewable energy in the enterprise domain presents a plethora of opportunities for smart technology providers,energy utilities,and professional services companies.However,there
4、 are still some roadblocks that stand in the way of this reality.To learn more about the potential and current pratfalls of smart energy solutions in the enterprise sector,ABI Research recently surveyed 114 manufacturing companies to learn more about their priorities,challenges,spending,and forecast
5、s for the The Biggest Smart Energy Challenges for Manufacturers3The most striking challenges reported were the cost of energy and interacting with utility providers.More specifically,more than 4 out of 10 respondents listed these issues as their top energy challenge,respectively.Moreover,about 3 out
6、 of 10 manufacturing companies listed them as their second-biggest challenge.Meanwhile,regulation/legislation and the availability of renewable energy were not seen as significant hurdles when it comes to implementing smart energy solutions for these industrial businesses.And while“lack of knowledge

12、planned smart energy solutions today.Just 1 out of 4 of our survey respondents stated that they currently use microgrids in their enterprise operations.In addition to that,34%of U.S.manufacturers have micro-grid implementation in their near-term 5Energy Storage and Backup SolutionsEnergy Efficiency
13、Management Software SolutionsThe complexities involved in managing new energy systems necessitate the adoption of advanced digital control and maintenance technologies,including sophisticated software solutions that can monitor,control,or even simulate energy usage within a building.Every component
14、of next-generation energy networks needs to be interconnected to facilitate an Artificial Intelligence(AI)-based demand-response mechanism.This will ultimately lead to autonomous,self-healing energy systems.Our survey found that 81%of U.S.manufacturers are either using energy efficiency management s
15、oftware solutions or will be soon.The availability of renewable energy sources,such as wind and solar,can be unpredictable.Therefore,businesses must use energy storage systems and backup solutions if they want to be sustainable while having enough power to run their operations.Some common solutions
16、include Battery Energy Management Systems(BEMSSs),as well as alternatives like hydrogen and flywheels.Energy storage and backup solutions are the most widely adopted smart energy solution among U.S.manufacturers,with 63%of them already having implemented these technologiesanother 29%plan to do so in
17、 the not-so-distant future.235 Smart Technologies and Solutions Enterprises Are Implementing T6Vehicle Fleet ElectrificationEnergy Advisory and Consulting ServicesCommercial vehicle fleet electrification is another effective way to reduce carbon emissions in enterprise operations.The growing commitm
18、ent by governments,sustainable-oriented businesses,and carmakers to achieve net-zero goals makes it clear that the future of transportation is electric.Therefore,it is fundamental to understand the constraints that electrification will add to the electricity grid and the most energy-efficient strate
19、gies to prevent grid overload.The market demand for commercial Electric Vehicles(EVs)and Zero-Emission Vehicles(ZEVs)is projected to increase from 171,000 EVs in 2020 to nearly 3 million in 2030.Electrifying commercial fleets is part of larger electrification efforts among worldwide businesses,also
20、including other smart devices and systems.Vehicle fleet electrification is a smart energy solution that 77%of U.S.manufacturers have either already implemented or plan to do soon.Tackling energy savings is still a relatively new concept for many businesses and industries,making it unlikely for them
21、to go at it alone.Due to a lack of expertise in implementing sustainable initiatives,enterprises will increasingly seek out professional service providers to help carry out their green visions.Our data showed that 71%of U.S.manufacturers are using or plan to use energy advisory or consulting service
