3、rds carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.The unusual and sustained heat and draught in this years summer reminded us of the severity of the climate challenge,while the aftermath of the global COVID-19 pandemic was still lingering.In face of the adverse circumstances and tremendous challenges,China E
4、nvironmental Grantmakers Alliance(CEGA)believes that only perseverance and action can lead to a hopeful future.Providing a platform for grantmakers to demonstrate solidarity and to contribute professional value to the industry in the past 6 years,CEGA Report is an achievement of grantmakers joint ac
5、tion.2022 CEGA Report has two noteworthy features.Firstly,it seeks innovative ways to explore and display the good practices of environmental grantmakers,by organizing the first excellent grantmaking case sharing activity among members to communicate the best grantmaking practices in every environme

20、lent grantmaking case sharing activity.”By inviting members to share their best practices and conducting in-depth studies,this activity aims to explore the merits of members grantmaking practices,to demonstrate best practices in front of the entire environmental non-profit sector through CEGA Report
21、,and to facilitate consensus among grantmakers.This years activity has received 21 cases from members,of which 18 cases were selected to become excellent cases in the nine environmental fields.4.1.Environmental Grantmakers Analysis 2022:CEGA Members Total grants and trend.In 2022,13 CEGA members mad
22、e 284 million yuan of environmental grants,down by 7%from last years 306 million yuan.Since 2018 when CEGA members first provided their annual grantmaking data,total annual grants made by members have been fluctuated around 300 million yuan.The total grants made in 2022 is slightly lower than grants
23、 made in 2018,making it the lowest in the past five years.Grants made by each member and trend.In 2022,the top three members in terms of the total amount of grants made were SEE Foundation(99.29 million yuan),Vanke Foundation(44.84 million yuan),and China Green Carbon Foundation(44.79 million yuan).
24、Among members that have shared grantmaking data in both 2021 and 2022,SEE Foundation,Beijing Afforestation Fund,and China Green Carbon Foundation made more environmental grants in 2022 than in 2021.Grant fields of members.In 2022,China Environmental Protection Foundation made grants in 7 of 9 enviro

46、 amounts and number of grantmakers by field.Among the three environmental issues,as usual,Ecological Conservation and Restoration received the most grants this field received total grants of 124.98 million yuan(44%of the annual total grants)from 9 CEGA members in 2022,a great increase from last year
47、s 86.74 million yuan.The issue of Climate Change received 27.49 million yuan of grants from 6 CEGA members,a slight decrease from last years 30.30 million yuan.The issue of Pollution Control received total grants of 10.98 million yuan from 3 members,which was about the same as 2021.Among the 6 worki
48、ng methods,Other Methods(e.g.Community Work,Eco-compensation,Rural Revitalization and Sustainable Livelihood,etc.)received total grants of 40.76 million yuan,accounting for 14%of the annual total grants.The field of Public Communication and Advocacy received 30.95 million yuan of grants,Industry Bui
49、lding and Development received 27.23 million yuan of grants,and Green and Low-carbon Business received 15.19 million yuan of grants.The other two method fields,International Cooperation and Environmental Rule of Law,received less than 10 million yuan of grants in 2022.Ecological Conservation and Res

51、bers made 27.90 million yuan of grants towards Conservation and Restoration of Marine Ecosystem in 2022,which is 5.72 times more than the totals grants made to this sub-field in 2021(4.15 million yuan).Members made 27.74 million yuan of grants towards Conservation and Use of Species and Germplasms i
52、n 2022,which is 1.83 times more than that in 2021.Meanwhile,a total of 28.55 million yuan of grants were made towards Conservation and Restoration of Forest Ecosystem,making it remain the most popular secondary field under Ecological Conservation and Restoration,although this amount decrease signifi
53、cantly from last years 43.46 million yuan.Grants that identified Ecological Conservation and Restoration as major field often named Public Awareness Campaign,Rural Revitalization and Sustainable Livelihood and Nature and Environment Education as minor fields a feature that was also observed in 2021.
54、Pollution Control.This year,Water Pollution Control is the secondary field that received the most grants in terms of amount(59%).Besides,more than 56 million yuan of grants identified the secondary field of Solid Waste Management as a minor field,which mainly consisted of the community solid waste r
55、elated grants made by Vanke Foundation that identified Public Communication and Advocacy or Industry Building and Development as major field,as well as the solid waste related grants made by China Environmental Protection Foundation that identified Green and Low-carbon Business as major field.Climat
56、e Change.In 2022,Ecosystem Carbon Sink is the secondary field that received the most grants in terms of amount.A total of 14.09 million yuan of grants,51%of all grants towards Climate Change in 2022,were made towards this secondary field,which is 1.86 times more than that in 2021.The average amount
57、per grant in this secondary field was also high,which was 1.76 million yuan.Besides,the field Efficient Use of Energy received 9.32 million yuan of grants,a giant increase from last years 13,000 yuan.However,Climate Change Adaptation,which received 84%of all grants toward Climate Change in 2021,rece
58、ived only 13%of the fields total grants in 2022.This was due to the decrease of disaster relief related grants by members.Many grants that identified Climate Change as major field name secondary fields under Ecological Conservation and Restoration as minor fields a feature of Ecosystem Carbon Sink g
59、rants.Public Communication and Advocacy.Around 25.99 million yuan,or 80%of annual grants towards this field went to Public Advocacy,Mobilization and Participation,a significant increase from last years 14.07 million yuan.While only 5%of all grants towards this field went to Public Awareness Campaign
60、,63.46 million yuan of grants identified this secondary field as a minor field.Environmental Rule of Law.A total of 5 grants contributed 5.76 million yuan to this field,of which 65%went towards Policy and Law Research,35%went towards Environment Litigation.Green and Low-carbon Business.Among the gra
61、nts made towards this field,85%went to support Green Business Action,and 13%went to support Corporate ESG and Environmental Responsiveness.International Cooperation.In 2022,the Paradise International Foundation is the only member that made grant that identified this field as major field.In addition,
62、6 grants totaling 36.91 million yuan identified secondary fields under International Cooperation as a minor field,including Overseas Philanthropy Programs,International Personnel Exchange,International Conferences and Visits,and International Research.Industry Building and Development.The grants mad
63、e towards this field mainly went to support Start-up Incubation(39%)and Talent Building(27%).In 2022,grants made towards Development of Platforms and Research Organizations increased significantly.Representative case in this secondary field included Vanke Foundations Community Solid Waste Management
64、 Thinktank Platform Series Programs.Other Methods.Grants that identified Other Methods as major field decreased significantly compared with 2021(from 38 grants totaling 83.76 million yuan in 2021 to 16 grants totaling 30.76 million yuan in 2022).Moreover,around 35.43 million yuan of grants identifie

77、wards North China.At the provincial level,Hebei,Beijing,Sichuan,Inner Mongolia each received more than 10 million yuan of grants from CEGA members.Types of grantees.Of the total grant amount made by CEGA members,52%had their type of grantees disclosed.Among the total grant amount with disclosed gran
78、tees,more than one-third went towards social organizations(NGOs),one-fifth went towards organizations registered as business,one-tenth went towards public institutions,while around 30%were made towards a combination of different types of grantees.Amount of each grant.In 2022,more than half(58%)of al
79、l environment grants made by members were less than 500,000 yuan(while in 2021 this share was 70%).The share of grants less than 100,000 yuan decreased the most,from 40%in 2021 to 27%in 2022,while the share of grants between 1 million to 5 million yuan increased from 14%in 2021 to 20%in 2022.Among t
80、he fields,more than half of the grants towards Ecological Conservation and Restoration,Climate Change,Public Communication and Advocacy,Green and Low-carbon Business,and Other Methods were below 500,000 yuan.More than 40%of the grants towards Industry Building and Development were major gifts more t
81、han 1 million,distinguishing it from other fields.4.2.Environmental Grantmakers Analysis 2022:Non-membersThanks to the data provided by China Foundation Center,this years report has analyzed 167 environmental grants made by 61 non-member foundations in 2022.The scope of this analysis therefore excee
82、ds that in 2021,which analyzed 58 non-member grantmakers.Total grants and trend.In 2022,61 non-members made 398 million yuan of environmental grants,a giant decrease from last years 639 million yuan.Key grantmakers.China Green Foundation and China Three Gorges Group Foundation each made more than 10
83、0 million yuan of environmental grants in 2022.Non-members that each made more than 20 million yuan of environmental grants included China Marine Development Foundation and Luan City Yingjia Charity Foundation;non-members that made more than 10 million yuan of grants also included CNOOC Marine Envir
84、onment and Ecology Protection Foundation,Yunnan Green Foundation,China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation,and Sichuan Green Foundation.Grant amount by field.Non-member grants towards Ecological Conservation and Restoration totaled 236 million yuan,accounting for 59%of annual

99、outhwest,including many rural new energy projects and ecosystem carbon sink projects.At the provincial level,in 2022 Hunan,Sichuan,Chongqing,Yunnan,Anhui,Jiangxi each received more than 10 million yuan of environmental grants from non-members in 2022.Type of grantees.Unlike CEGA members whose grante
100、es were mostly social organizations(NGOs),according to available data,non-members environmental grants mainly went towards organizations registered as business and governmental agencies,villagers committees or residents committees.These two types of grantees received 60%of total annual non-member gr
