2、he momentum that the Animation,Visual Effects,Gaming and Comics(AVGC)industry has gained in the current times,it has become imperative to develop a supportecosystem for the industry at large and support its growth in India.In order to boost thedomestic capacities and develop the opportunity landscap
3、e,collaborations in academia,co-production,technology,policy&research must be explored to leverage the existingindustry expertise.The AVGC segment,as a part of the larger media and entertainmentsector,also offers immense potential to employ youth.With this objective,HonbleFinance Minister announced
4、the formation of the AVGC Promotion Task Force duringthe Budget Speech 2022-23.The Promotion Task Force was constituted in the Ministryof Information and Broadcasting in April 2022.ThePromotionTaskForcehasheldextensiveconsultationswithindustryrepresentatives and cross cutting government sectors to e
5、nsure this Report gets aholistic viewpoint and suggest action areas for the AVGC industry.The Task Forcemembers considered the potential and challenges faced by the sector and havesuggested steps to realize the potential of all segments in terms of market access anddevelopment,skilling and mentorshi

49、(AVGC)sector deserves a special mention inthis context.The AVGC sector shall serve as amajor growth driver for the M&E industry in Indiaandfortherealizationofthesame,theGovernment of India has designated audio-visualservices as one of the 12 Champion ServiceSectors.Further,the growth of Indias AVGC
50、sectorwill enable it to act as a connecting bridge between thecountrys culture and its dissemination to a widerglobal audience.In the above context,it is essential to note the variousways in which AVGC sector could play a role inshowcasing Indias culture and heritage on a nationalas well as global s
51、cale.Similarly,there is a need toexplore other innovative ways through which theintegration of AVGC with Indias culture could bestrengthened and made more robust.Indian epicssuch as the Ramayana and Mahabharata could beused as inspiration to develop online and videogames,which could eventually contr
52、ibute to Indiasgrowth as an AVGC hub.Successful films may betransformed into strategy games through a dedicatedmechanism of cooperation between the entertainmentand gaming industry.A similar approach could be adopted with respect tohistorical and folklore-based narratives,taking intoconsideration th

55、stage andneeds to overcome certain challenges.For instance,AVGC education is a building block of the sector.However,at present AVGC education in the countrystrongly needs standardization of content and deliverymodes.For skilling and vocational training too,there is aneed for dedicated vocational tra
56、ining modules forvarious other skills required by the sector.Further,topromotelifelonglearningforAVGCprofessionals,adequate focus has to be given to the quality of skillingcontent.Apart from challenges on the academic front,the sector also needs to overcome challenges withrespecttoregulatoryframewor

61、ently addressed.AVGCsector can play a significant role in building metaverse.As per certain projections,the establishment of AVGCtask force will help India achieve its potential of 20 lakhjobs in the sector,which is considered critical fordevelopmentofskillsrequiredforthegrowthofmetaverse.Besides th
